The Louisiana Day of Empathy will be a day of Voter Education as we approach March 1 voting rights implementation for formerly incarcerated parolees and probationers who have been on supervision successfully for 5 years without any infractions. This will be a day to celebrate another mile stone for criminal justice reform in the state of Louisiana. Operation Restoration will educate not only the public but those directly impacted by this new law. Operation Restoration will focus on ensuring that women and men who are currently impacted understand there right to register to vote and how this Day of Empathy is to also humanize them as we touch on one of the constitutions most important references that speaks to "No taxation without representation" and how using their voting rights makes them a true citizen of the state of Louisiana. Operation Restoration will register as many people as possible on this day either here at the organization or throughout the community. Whichever weather permits. Our goal is to rally 20 formerly incarcerated and directly impacted women to assist in this effort.
